Solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing associations in consultation with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) have developed a new online registration portal where all solar PV manufacturers are required to register their factories.
The objective is to ensure that domestically manufactured solar PV cells and modules can be traced, which will further help verify the domestic content requirement (DCR) in these renewables deployed in the country.
The DCR can be verified at the portal through a module’s unique serial number, which the ministry will use for projects that mandate DCRs. If a manufacturer fails to register their factories as required, they may be liable for action. The portal can be accessed .
