In a move reflecting the growing trend of boutique, partner-led practices in 含羞草社区 legal market, independent practitioner Abhishek Adke and three of his peers – Himanshu Vidhani, Vikrant Zunjarrao and Kaushalya Venkataraman – have established Quadra Legal in Mumbai.
The boutique firm brings together complementary expertise across disputes, corporate, insolvency and real estate.
In an exclusive interview with India Business Law Journal, Adke said, “Quadra Legal grew out of a shared conviction among four practitioners each with deep roots in their respective practice areas.
“Clients increasingly need a firm that combines the responsiveness and personal accountability of a boutique with genuine depth across high-stakes practice areas. Each of us has built a focused practice over more than a decade, and the announcement formalised what had, in many ways, been an organic convergence of practice and philosophy.
“Having Himanshu, Vikrant and Kaushalya as co-founders means that clients benefit not just from my own experience, but from a collective depth that an independent practice simply cannot replicate. That, to my mind, is the most significant value that Quadra Legal adds over and above my earlier work.”
Adke and Vidhani co-lead the firm’s dispute resolution, arbitration and insolvency practice. Adke has practised extensively across the Bombay High Court, City Civil Court, Small Causes Court and (NCLT).
Vidhani has handled complex commercial disputes, international arbitrations and insolvency proceedings across multiple forums, including the NCLT and the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal, with particular experience in cross-border enforcement and shareholder disputes across the Asia-Pacific region.
Zunjarrao leads the real estate practice, advising clients across the full spectrum of transactions — from large-scale land acquisitions and title due diligence to structuring joint development agreements and advising on redevelopment mandates. He also brings experience advising developers and investors on complex, high-value projects.
Venkataraman heads the private equity and general corporate practice. She brings considerable experience advising investors, founders, and corporates on transactions and structuring, with a focus on deal execution and strategic advisory across sectors.
Adke said, “At Quadra Legal, my focus will continue to be on commercial litigation and arbitration – the same work I have built my practice around over the past 18 years,” adding that the shift allows for a more “integrated offering to clients”.
“What is genuinely different, however, is the platform. Practising alongside partners who bring deep expertise in real estate, insolvency and corporate law means that I can now offer clients a far more integrated service.”
The firm has prioritised a seamless transition of client mandates as it moves from individual practices to a unified platform. “Client continuity has been our foremost consideration throughout this transition,” Adke said.
“Each founding partner has maintained close, personal communication with their existing clients to ensure that the move to Quadra Legal is seamless. In practical terms, the matters, files, and institutional knowledge that each partner has developed over their careers move with them into the new firm.
“Clients can expect the same quality of advice and the same personal attention they have come to rely on, now supported by a broader team with complementary expertise. We have been deliberate in structuring the firm so that the transition does not disrupt ongoing engagements”
The firm is expected to grow its team and deepen its practice offerings.
