Abeezar E Faizullabhoy, Murtaza Kachwalla and SM Algaus have joined CMS IndusLaw along with their team and will all be based at the Mumbai office.
The trio previously worked at Argus Partners before their recent move. Faizullabhoy is a senior partner at CMS IndusLaw, while Kachwala and Algaus have been appointed as partners.
Faizullabhoy brings more than 35 years of experience, spanning dispute resolution, arbitration, and corporate commercial transactions and advisory. He has represented clients across the manufacturing, technology, services and retail sectors before the Supreme Court of India, various high courts, tribunals, and in both domestic and international arbitrations.
He has handled matters under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and regularly advises on the enforcement of foreign decrees and arbitral awards in India. In his corporate commercial work, Faizullabhoy has advised on joint ventures, angel and private equity investments, shareholder and share purchase agreements, technology transfers, and regulatory issues under foreign direct investment, the Companies Act, Foreign Exchange Management Act and other commercial laws.
His previous roles include senior positions at Mulla & Mulla & Craigie, Blunt & Caroe, JSA, HSA Advocates and Argus Partners.
Kachwalla, who brings more than 16 years’ experience in litigation and dispute resolution, has represented leading corporates and individuals in a broad range of matters. He has acted in complex commercial disputes before the Supreme Court of India, various high courts, and specialised tribunals, including the (NCLT), National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT).
His experience extends to domestic and international arbitrations, as well as advising on real estate transactions, drafting and vetting property documentation, and representing clients in property transfers and conveyancing. His previous roles include being a partner at HSA Advocates and Argus Partners.
Algaus brings more than a decade of experience in dispute resolution, covering commercial litigation, arbitration and related advisory work. He has acted for clients in civil and commercial disputes, insolvency proceedings, intellectual property litigation, and banking regulatory matters.
He has appeared before a wide range of forums, including the Supreme Court, multiple high courts, the NCLT, city civil and sessions courts, small causes court, DRT, electricity regulatory commissions, and arbitral tribunals.
