Ajit Sinha, the former vice president of the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE), has joined fintech company Angel One as general counsel.
Sinha brings more than 24 years’ experience in corporate law, financial services, capital markets and banking. He will lead all legal matters, and act as a strategic adviser to the board and senior leadership team at Angel One.
At the NSE, he also headed the corporate legal team for the exchange and its group companies from December 2018.
During his NSE tenure, Sinha supported the board and senior management in preparing for compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), structured mergers, acquisitions and group restructurings, and managed the group’s global intellectual property portfolio across more than 40 jurisdictions.
Before joining the NSE, he spent a decade at HSBC (2008-2018), initially as vice president of legal (retail banking) and later as senior legal counsel for corporate banking, supporting both corporate and retail banking businesses. His role included advising on data protection matters and managing corporate litigation.
Earlier in his career, he served as north regional legal counsel at Citicorp Finance India (2005-2008) where he established in-house arbitration mechanisms.
