Malaysian firm Zaid Ibrahim & Co’s deputy managing partner and co-head of its infrastructure, energy and utilities practice, Amin Abdul Majid, has been promoted as the firm’s new managing partner, effective 14 July 2025.

“I will continue to focus on what we have been doing for the past 38 years – consistent high quality services as a full-service law firm to our clients, particularly in our recognised and leading practices of equity and debt capital markets, corporate, infrastructure, energy and utilities, law reform and real estate,” Majid told Asia Business Law Journal.

Majid joined Zaid Ibrahim & Co in 2011 and has advised clients and stakeholders on energy and infrastructure projects for nearly 20 years. His most recent work highlights include advising on the introduction of innovative technologies in the electricity supply industry, the regulation of new upstream oil and gas activities, as well as the sale of a large international engineering company’s production arm.

On Majid’s promotion, Gilbert Gan, the former managing partner, will now assume the role of senior partner at the firm.
