Shashwat Tewary has joined Cooley as a capital markets partner in the Singapore office, bringing 16 years of experience.

Tewary, previously a counsel at Sidley Austin, has extensive experience advising clients on capital markets transactions across the Indian and Southeast Asian regions.

Since 2009, Tewary has focused on capital markets work in India and Southeast Asia. He has advised on several landmark deals, including the first Indian REIT initial public offering and the first infrastructure investment trust IPO in India, along with numerous sponsor-led and private equity-backed listings, particularly in the technology and healthcare sectors.

Tewary’s practice spans a wide range of industries, and he advises companies and investment banks on IPOs, follow-on offerings by corporates and REITs, investment-grade and high-yield bonds, medium-term note programmes, and liability management and restructuring mandates.

“Shashwat brings deep experience and extensive connections within the Indian and Southeast Asia capital markets ecosystem, and will be instrumental in strengthening our ability to provide high-quality, impactful advice and solutions to clients in these regions,” said Charlie Kim, partner and co-chair of Cooley’s global capital markets practice group.

Tewary added, “With the region’s dynamic and evolving capital markets landscape, it’s a particularly exciting time to help Cooley’s innovative clients navigate and leverage growth opportunities.”
