Orrick has expanded its energy and infrastructure team with the addition of partner Adam Moncrieff in Singapore, further enhancing its capabilities in this growing sector in Asia.
Karthik Kumar, Orrick’s Singapore office leader, told Asia Business Law Journal that this expansion mainly serves the rise in demand for traditional energy solutions throughout Asia. “This team, which is deeply respected in the market, has a long record of advising the most sophisticated players and executing on the largest mandates across Vietnam, Indonesia and beyond,” he said.
Moncrieff was previously a partner at A&O Shearman, with 28 years of experience in energy projects, particularly the natural gas value chain, LNG and gas-to-power. His practice also covers renewable energy and energy transition.
Relocating from Vietnam, Moncrieff is joining energy finance partners Michael Tardif and Ari Bessendorf, who also left A&O last year. The firm’s spokesperson told Asia Business Law Journal that Orrick expected a team of other lawyers to join with Moncrieff.
Kumar said the firm anticipated strong collaboration with clients and its Tokyo-based team as investment continues to flow from Japan, with Orrick aiming to make a significant impact across Asia’s energy markets.
Since opening its Singapore office in 2020, Orrick has built out its regional capabilities, now with six partners.
