Sidley Austin has appointed Alun Evans as a partner in its Singapore office, reinforcing the firm’s energy, transportation and infrastructure practice in the Asia-Pacific region.

Evans told Asia Business Law Journal that infrastructure investment across Asia was being driven by rapid technological change and strong investor appetite, particularly in digital infrastructure and energy transition. “There is a real race to scale, with large capital deployed in data centre projects spurred by the evolution of AI. The energy transition space remains active and an attractive asset class with some interesting offshore wind developments in places like the Philippines,” he said.

He joins from A&O Shearman, where he co-led the infrastructure M&A practice in the APAC region and served as co-head of the Philippines foreign desk. With more than two decades of transactional experience, Evans brings a record of advising private companies, infrastructure funds and sponsors on cross-border deals in sectors, including energy transition, digital infrastructure, financial services and healthcare.
