Thailand-based law firm Kudun and Partners has appointed Putthimes Thanarersk as senior counsel in its capital markets practice.

Thanarersk joins Kudun and Partners from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC), where he served as director of the digital asset enforcement department.

In his new role, he will advise clients on capital markets regulations, enforcement matters and complex investigations, with a particular focus on heightened regulatory scrutiny and reputational risk.

Kudun Sukhumananda, the founding partner of Kudun and Partners, has acknowledged that regulatory intensity in Thailand will “become more targeted and sophisticated”, making this the ideal time to bring a seasoned veteran like Thanarersk on board.

“Putthimes brings valuable perspective and depth to our advisory capabilities. His experience enhances our ability to support clients facing heightened regulatory expectations and increasingly sophisticated compliance challenges,” Kudun told Asia Business Law Journal.

Kudun also foresees “a continued rise in demand for specialist advice”, a need that aligns perfectly with Thanarersk’s expertise in helping clients navigate “increasingly complex regulatory and enforcement environments”.

Thanarersk brings more than 32 years of experience to Kudun and Partners, having previously held senior positions at both the SEC and the Bank of Thailand. He specialises in fraud detection, forensic accounting, insider trading, market manipulation and complex financial misconduct.

When asked whether the SEC or the Bank of Thailand would become clients of Kudun and Partners following Thanarersk’s appointment, Kudun told ABLJ: “The answer is no.”
