John Crossley, EIR practice area leader at K&L Gates, said: “[The appointments] will turbocharge the strategic growth of our energy practice across the Asia-Pacific region, which is going from strength to strength as we develop and expand to meet the ever-changing regional and global needs of the energy industry.”

The duo, formerly with Gibson Dunn, brings industry expertise to the firm’s regional energy capabilities.

Roach has more than 25 years of experience in Singapore, with knowledge across the upstream oil and gas, LNG and power sectors. Prior to Gibson Dunn, he worked at major firms including Hogan Lovells, White & Case and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Working alongside Jones, Roach has acted on energy projects, including advising Chevron on its Rokan production sharing contract operations in Indonesia. Roach’s experience also includes advising on transactions totalling more than USD10 billion, such as Murphy Oil’s divestment of its Malaysian operations to PTTEP for USD2.127 billion — the largest upstream M&A deal in Southeast Asia in nearly a decade.
