Jones Day has appointed partner Sushma Jobanputra as partner-incharge of its Singapore office.
She has been a partner at Jones Day since 2008 and focuses on banking and finance matters covering Southeast Asia and India. Jobanputra succeeds David Longstaff, who has led the Singapore office since 2003. Longstaff will now focus on expanding the firm’s presence in the ASEAN region, with particular emphasis on Indonesia.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Jobanputra was a partner at Linklaters in London and, most recently, a managing director at Barclays Capital.
She has enhanced Jones Day’s ability to support clients like ICICI Bank, Godrej Consumer Products, Procter & Gamble and Tata Technologies in India and Bumi Resources in Indonesia.
“Singapore has been and will only strengthen its position as the infrastructure centre for the ASEAN nations,” said Stephen Brogan, managing partner of Jones Day. “Singapore also serves as a gateway to India, particularly with respect to the capital markets. The firm is blessed to have Sushma to lead the service of our clients out of our Singapore office.”
Jones Day has a total of 10 women in the role of partner-in-charge across its offices worldwide.
