Singapore’s Incisive Law has appointed Walter Alexander as director and head of its corporate practice, who will broaden the firm’s traditional international client base. Alexander is formerly a director and head corporate legal at Silvester Legal.
Wai Yue Loh, the joint managing director at Incisive, told Asia Business Law Journal that the addition of Alexander coincided with the rising demand for cross-border corporate law services, which was driving the firm’s growth.
“[We are] expanding this portfolio of our clients beyond China and Singapore, as Walter’s current clients hail from outside of the firm’s traditional sphere. Many are from South Asia, Southeast Asia and MENA, which enlarges the firm’s footprint insofar as [our] client-base is concerned,” said Loh.
As head of corporate at Incisive, Alexander brings his expertise including commercial litigation, M&A, transactions and commercial agreements, and business advisory. He has expertise in corporate law with a strong emphasis on cross-border transactions, shareholder and director disputes and employment matters.
Before joining Incisive, Alexander spent five years at Silvester Legal, where he held a similar role. His legal career began at the Big Four firm Drew & Napier, after which he moved on to work with local firms such as Angeline Suparto Law Corporation and AGP Law.
He advised Future Food Foundry on its investment in NextGen Farms and Sustenir Group, a transaction valued at more than USD20 million by the UAE-headquartered agri-food technology company. In addition, in one High Court minority oppression case Deniyal Bin Kamis v Mapo Engineering Pte Ltd & 2 Ors [2023], Alexander secured a notable judgment that was later increased on appeal to USD2.2 million.
“The firm is now significantly better positioned to serve clients in both commercial litigation and non-contentious corporate matters,” said Loh.
Incisive also hired another director, Davis Tan, in late February, who is the firm’s deputy head of litigation practice.
