Dentons has hired Philip Nunn, Alfred Wu and Muriel Cheng, bolstering the firm’s capacity in commercial and construction disputes in Hong Kong.
Nunn and Wu joined as the senior consultant and partner, respectively, along with now the senior associate Muriel Cheng. The dispute resolution team joined Dentons from Norton Rose Fulbright.
With 50 years of practice, Nunn specialises in construction litigation and arbitration for clients such as government departments, engineers and contractors. He was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in 2000 and awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2004 due to his contributions to the Hong Kong Housing Authority as a member.
Nunn joined the Attorney General’s Chambers in the 1980s and left as the deputy principal crown counsel in the land and works group. He then worked at Simmons & Simmons as a partner in 1986 before partnering with Wu at Fried Frank.
Bringing in 27 years of experience, Wu focuses on dispute resolution across sectors including finance, M&A, shareholder issues, energy and commodities trading, and construction criminal investigations. He has represented clients in litigations involving regulatory bodies such as the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and the HKEX, and has aided US companies in navigating overseas anti-corruption laws and investigations by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
In 2015, following the closure of Fried Frank’s Hong Kong and Shanghai offices, Nunn and Wu led a team of five to join Norton Rose Fulbright, with Cheng also part of the team.
