Singapore’s oldest law firm, Dentons Rodyk & Davidson, has marked its 165th year in practice.
The firm was founded in 1861 as Woods & Davidson before being renamed Rodyk & Davidson in 1877. In 2016, it combined with global law firm Dentons to formally become Dentons Rodyk & Davidson.
“As multinational companies continue to expand into Asean, we are positioning ourselves to support our clients throughout the region, while also connecting them to opportunities in India, China, Australasia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and North America,” Gerald Singham, global vice-chair and Asean CEO at Dentons,” told Asia Business Law Journal.
Under Singham’s leaderhip, Dentons Rodyk has accelerated its expansion across Southeast Asia, with established offices in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar and, most recently, in Thailand through a combination with Thailand’s Pisut & Partners.
Singham added that the firm’s growth was being driven by rising cross-border investment into Asean, particularly by multinational companies deepening their presence in the region.
As a result, the firm has seen increasing demand across its three core lines – transactions, advisory and disputes.
