Firms assist on INR25bn Canara HSBC Life Insurance IPO

Talwar Thakore & Associates, S&R Associates, Trilegal and Linklaters acted for parties involved in Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company’s initial public offering on the National Stock Exchange of India, raising INR25.16 billion (USD286 million).

The IPO comprised the sale of 237.5 million equity shares by existing shareholders.

TT&A advised HSBC Insurance (Asia Pacific) Holdings, in its capacity as a promoter and one of the selling shareholders in the IPO. Partners Abhinav Kumar, Kunal Thakore and Deepa Christopher led the team. Managing associate Shubham Sancheti as well as associates Abhishek Iyer and Pranav Kandada assisted.

S&R Associates counselled Canara HSBC Life Insurance, Trilegal advised the bookrunning lead managers, SBI Capital Markets, BNP Paribas, HSBC Securities & Capital Markets (India), JM Financial, and Motilal Oswal Investment Advisors.

The Trilegal team was led by partner Richa Choudhary, and supported by counsel Maitreya Rajurkar, senior associates Sanya Chaudhari and Shivayana Balodia and associates Siddhant Mishra, Deepanshu Agarwal, and Yatin Shikarpuri.

Linklaters acted as international legal counsel.

Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company is a joint venture between Canara Bank and HSBC Insurance (Asia-Pacific) Holdings.
