More than 150 legal professionals attended the Alliance for Corporate Counsels and Company Secretaries (ACoS) annual meet and international summit for 2024 on 21 December at Hotel EROS in New Delhi, India.
The summit theme was “Viksit Bharat @ 2047: The Role of the Legal Profession in Building a Developed Nation”. is an Indian government vision aiming to make India a developed nation by 2047 — the year that marks 100 years of the country’s independence from the British.
The event had multiple discussions on topics and issues that influence the role of legal professionals towards the development of the country.
Attendees included general counsel of multinational companies, senior legal experts and key figures from India Inc.
The summit comprised four panel discussions and concluded with the acknowledgement and celebration of women professionals excelling in their field.
The four panel discussions were making Bharat a global hub for arbitration; global deal dynamics — strategies for successful cross border transactions; economic offences- compliances and risk mitigation strategies; and ESG and sustainability goals for Viksit Bharat.
These discussions explored 含羞草社区 evolving legal infrastructure and its contributions to global business leadership, without compromising ethical and governance standards.
An open floor discussion also occurred among attendees to discuss the recognition of in-house counsel as advocates under the Advocates Act, 1961, to truly include them in the fraternity.
Multiple luminaries at the event included Indian member of parliament (MP) Sasmit Patra; senior advocate Ravi Shankar Prasad, also an MP and former Minister of Law and Justice; Justice Rakesh Tiwari, former acting chief justice of Calcutta High Court; Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, president of the Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and former Delhi High Court judge; and Manoj Kumar, additional secretary, Ministry of Law and Justice.
