Korean “Big Six” firm Yoon & Yang has recruited Myong-Hyon (Brandon) Ryu as a senior foreign attorney, who will lead the firm’s cross-border M&A and global corporate advisory practices.

“The arrival of Myong-Hyon, who has deep expertise in cross-border transactions, positions Yoon & Yang to respond even more professionally and comprehensively to the needs of clients in both domestic and international corporate advisory and capital markets sectors,” said Myung Soo Lee, the senior managing partner at Yoon & Yang.

The addition of Ryu is expected to strengthen the firm’s cross-border M&A team.

Ryu is admitted to practice law in New York. From 2008 until recently, he practised at Shin & Kim and successfully advised Korean corporations on high-profile outbound M&A transactions, including Hanwha Chemical’s acquisition of SolarOne (currently Hanwha Qcells). He also closed inbound transactions involving foreign funds and corporations, most notably GIC’s acquisition of a stake in Starbucks Korea.

Earlier in May, Yoon & Yang hired another M&A expert Hee Woong Yoon from Yulchon, who is now one of the firm’s managing partners.
