Singapore’s Sreenivasan Chambers has welcomed Palaniappan Sundararaj as a director, bringing the firm’s total headcount to 10 lawyers, including three directors.
Sreenivasan Narayanan, managing director at Sreenivasan Chambers, told Asia Business Law Journal that “apart from continuing his current practice areas, PS [Sundararaj] will be part of the ‘brain trust’ in the firm, guiding and mentoring younger lawyers.”
A seasoned contracts and torts lawyer, Sundararaj has expertise in medical negligence. He reunites with Narayanan from K&L Gates Straits Law, where Sundararaj worked as an advocate and solicitor. Before the combination of K&L Gates and Straits Law Practice, he was a partner and director at Straits Law Practice for more than two decades.
While headcount has grown beyond its original vision, Narayanan said “geographical growth is unlikely” and the firm would continue to focus on Singapore litigation, arbitration and domestic restructuring and insolvency matters. “Down the road, I do hope that we can extend to counsel work in overseas seated arbitrations and R&I [restructuring and insolvency] advisory work,” said Narayanan.
Narayanan launched the firm in August 2024.
