Malaysian law firm Skrine has launched a dedicated India desk in response to a sharp increase in cross-border corporate activity between the two countries.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, the India desk will be led by partners Ashok Kumar Mahadev Ranai, Manshan Singh and Fariz Abdul Aziz, who will focus on contentious matters, trade and non-contentious matters, respectively.
Aimed at supporting Indian companies doing business in Malaysia and Malaysian companies with interests in India, Skrine has consolidated its “cross-border corporate, M&A, energy, projects, dispute resolution and regulatory capabilities into a focused platform”.
“With Indian enterprises increasingly using Malaysia as a gateway to Asean expansion, and Malaysian corporates pursuing opportunities in India across energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology and financial services, clients require counsel that understands both jurisdictions’ legal, regulatory and commercial landscapes,” Ranai, the head of Skrine’s India Desk, told Asia Business Law Journal.
