Founder and managing partner Petrus Richard Sianturi has launched Jakarta-based boutique firm Sianturi & Partners on 1 October 2025, with a focus on dispute matters, both civil and criminal.
“In Indonesia, disputes, particularly those involving commercial matters, remain prevalent, yet they often face challenges due to the limited number of lawyers with a genuine interest in this field, Sianturi told Asia Business Law Journal.
He added that he saw this as a significant opportunity to establish the firm.
Sianturi has nearly a decade of dispute-resolution experience and an academic background in criminal law. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in criminal law at the University of Indonesia. Two additional partners, both from dispute-resolution practices, have joined the firm and their names have not been disclosed.
The firm specialises in disputes work and places a strong emphasis on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.
“Since arbitration and ADR are integral parts of dispute resolution, we also place a strong emphasis on handling disputes through arbitration and ADR mechanisms,” Sianturi told ABLJ.
In terms of service, the firm would focus on serving all potential clients in, both domestic and international arenas, said Sianturi.
At present, since the establishment of Sianturi & Partners, clients had primarily been domestic, however, it continued to expand its network to be able to meet the needs of international clients as well, he said.
Looking ahead, Sianturi emphasises that the firm’s development focus will particularly centre on the business sector within the Asian and Southeast Asian regions.
The team currently comprises three partner lawyers and one associate. Sianturi also shared with ABLJ that the firm was currently in discussions with a prospective of counsel, a senior academic, who will help strengthen its team. This collaboration aligned with the firm’s vision of providing legal services grounded in both practical experience and solid academic foundations, said Sianturi.
Sianturi is also the founder and chief operating officer of Korner Legal Indonesia, a legaltech company in Jakarta dedicated to expanding access to legal education and services. He said Indonesia’s vast geography presents significant challenges in ensuring even access to legal services.
From its inception, Korner Legal Indonesia had aimed to be a pioneer in addressing these issues by providing high-quality legal assistance at affordable costs, said Sianturi.
Korner Legal Indonesia operates independently from Sianturi & Partners, with separate teams and a different office location in Jakarta.
