South Korean law firm LIN, with more than 150 attorneys, has announced a merger agreement with boutique outfit Daeji Law Firm, specialising in real estate, which is expected to be completed by the end of September.
“The purpose of the merger is to leverage Daeji’s expertise in the real estate development sector, thereby expanding LIN’s construction and real estate client base, strengthening its capabilities, and ultimately driving revenue growth,” Jin Seok Lim, the senior managing partner at LIN, told Asia Business Law Journal.
Through this merger, Daeji will be integrated into LIN. Geon Wook Lee, a managing partner at Daeji, will become the head of LIN’s construction and real estate team. On completion, LIN, which currently has 154 attorneys, including foreign legal consultants, will have a total of 158 lawyers.
Daeji’s Myanmar office is also part of the merger and will operate as LIN’s first overseas branch, focusing on work in Southeast Asia. The Myanmar office, which comprises 15 local lawyers, accountants and business consultants, provides legal and tax advisory services to Korean companies and expatriates in Myanmar, as well as to local businesses.
Lim said the main client base would be Korean companies that had entered or were planning to enter Southeast Asia.
