The Korea In-House Counsel Association (KICA), the country’s largest in-house counsel association, has reappointed Jaehwan Lee, the chief legal officer of Musinsa, as its 8th president.
The KICA held its general meeting on 14 January at the Shilla Seoul, where Lee, who has served as the 7th president of the KICA since January 2024, was elected to a new two-year term as president.
“For the last two years, the KICA actively provided policy recommendations that reflect the voices of businesses on the ground regarding legal and regulatory issues arising from the rapidly changing industry environment, including platform regulation,” said Lee, when asked by Asia Business Law Journal on his achievements in the past two years.
In addition, Lee said the KICA collaborated closely with the Korean Bar Association, to introduce attorney-client privilege (ACP) to ensure in-house counsel could provide independent legal advice.
For the next two years until December 2027, Lee emphasised that the KICA would lead the future legal sector and expand its influence.
“The KICA will establish a proactive risk management framework through regular meetings with key regulators. We will also develop the KICA standard guidelines across the expanding legal landscape, including ESG management and compliance,” said Lee.
Formerly a Shin & Kim partner, Lee joined Musinsa as general counsel in 2021 and was promoted to a chief legal officer in December 2025. Musinsa is one of the country’s leading online fashion platforms, recording total revenue of KRW973 billion (USD667.9 million) in the first three quarters of 2025.

The KICA said more than 300 in-house counsel from leading companies and lawyers from sponsoring law firms attended the general meeting.
