Bayfront Law, Nishimura & Asahi Singapore office’s counterpart in the Nishimura & Asahi – Bayfront Law Alliance, has hired Joseph Tay as director of commercial disputes to help drive its growing disputes team, including international arbitration.
“Our observation is that international clients and users have become increasingly savvy and familiar with commercial disputes in Singapore be it in terms of the options available or on how the system operates in open-economy Singapore,” Kesavan Nair, Bayfront Law’s managing director, told Asia Business Law Journal.
This had in turn led to an unmistakable increase in the demands and expectations on the quality and effectiveness of clients’ commercial disputes counsel, added Nair.
He noted that Tay’s impressive track record and depth of experience position the firm to exceed such expectations, and to offer these clients the confidence that their cases would always be primed for the most optimal outcomes.
Tay has joined Bayfront Law from Shook Lin and Bok, where he served as a partner from 2015 to 2025. He has represented clients in Singapore court- and law-related arbitration proceedings, and has extensive experience in restructuring and insolvency matters in the Lion City, as well as advising corporations on corruption, fraud and compliance investigations.
