Following the approval of its merger with Perkins Coie, Ashurst has announced the renaming of its South Korean joint venture as Ashurst Perkins Coie HwaHyun Joint Venture Law Firm.

The merger between Ashurst and Perkins Coie is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026 and Jini Lee, head of region, Asia, told Asia Business Law Journal that further collaboration opportunities involving HwaHyun Law Firm would be pursued.

“There will be no changes to the way we implement our Korea joint venture following the combination, although we expect with our 52 offices, we will be driving further collaboration opportunities between our Korea practice and our global footprint, including our US colleagues,” she said.

The Ashurst HwaHyun Joint Venture Law Firm, established in 2023, advises Korean and international clients across a full range of transactions, disputes, and regulatory and compliance matters.
