Guantao Law Firm has hired a six-member team, led by partners Kenneth Keung and Barry Yen, to bolster its commercial and dispute resolution services at the Hong Kong office. With their addition, the office will have seven partners.

Keung brings more than 30 years’ experience and specialises in dispute resolution and cross-border commercial business, including company formation, M&A, restructuring, and the establishment of trusts and funds.

The 35-year seasoned IP specialist Yen, who has provided advice to the Hong Kong government and Legislative Council on amending various trademark and copyright-related issues, is a member of the International Trademark Association and held different key roles in the group. He served as chairperson at the Intellectual Property Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong in 1999 and 2000, and was president of the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners from 2007 to 2009 and is now a council member.

Previously, Keung and Yen were partners at So Keung Yip & Sin.

This latest move follows Guantao’s partnership with Gallant in April, a Hong Kong peer with 130 employees, to enhance cross-border capabilities by increasing their scale of operations.
