Kim & Chang and Shin & Kim are assisting on Swedish investment organisation EQT’s acquisition of KJ Environment, a South Korea-based waste treatment company.
The companies involved didn’t disclose the deal value, but reported an estimate of KRW1 trillion (USD738 million).
Genesis Private Equity Management, the seller in this transaction, has enlisted Shin & Kim as its legal counsel, the firm told Asia Business Law Journal. The Shin & Kim lead transaction lawyers are partner Hae Sung Jeong and senior foreign attorney Stephanie Kim.
Kim & Chang is counselling EQT, to the Swedish company’s 16 August press release. A Kim & Chang spokesperson said: “We do not comment on ongoing deals as a matter of firm policy.”
While the specific terms of the deal remain undisclosed, completion of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and approvals, and is expected to be finalised in the last quarter of this year.
EQT is a Swedish global investment organisation managing assets across private capital and real assets segments, focusing on sustainable growth for its portfolio companies in Europe, the Asia-Pacific and the US.
KJ Environment operates an end-to-end waste treatment business, including recyclable waste sorting, plastic recycling and waste-to-energy capabilities.
