Duan & Duan Law Firm has expanded its partnership with the addition of Vincent Zhu, Peter Zeng and Liu Hongjun, which follows the merger of the Japanese business team from A&Z Law Firm in April.
Zhu specialises in handling M&A, direct investment in China, dispute resolution, and government regulatory matters, particularly transactions and cases from the pharmaceutical, medical device and health food industries.
Previously, Zhu was the director at A&Z, which he co-founded in 2004 with another former director, Sophie An, now the director of Duan & Duan. Zeng, the former senior partner at A&Z, focuses on labour law, compliance, dispute resolution and foreign investment matters. His clients were primarily Japanese companies, including AEON, Kawada Industries, Kuraray, Nitto Denko, Takeda Pharmaceutical and TOTO.
According to A&Z’s website, the firm’s Japanese business team consists of 32 members, with 25 holding legal professional qualifications.
Liu, the third newest addition to Duan & Duan, previously practised at King & Wood Mallesons and later joined Zhenghan Law Firm as a partner. He brings extensive courtroom experience and specialises in high-end commercial dispute resolution. Liu is also an arbitrator at the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre.
Additionally, he has expertise in real estate and construction projects, as well as bankruptcy reorganisation, and currently serves as an institution representative of the Shanghai Bankruptcy Administrators’ Association.
