A&O Shearman welcomes former HSF financial regulatory head

A&O Shearman onboards Hannah Cassidy as a partner in its Hong Kong office to lead the local regulatory services team.

Cassidy previously served as a partner and head of Asia’s financial services regulatory practice at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), where she worked for nearly 20 years.

She specialises in providing regulatory compliance services to financial institutions, fintech firms, listed companies and their senior executives, particularly in addressing issues related to systems and controls breaches, anti-money laundering, product mis-selling and insider dealing. She also has extensive experience in independent investigations.

Cassidy handles a wide range of cross-border matters across multiple jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, South Korea, Japan, the UK and Jersey. She holds dual qualifications to practice in both Hong Kong, and England and Wales.

Additionally, Cassidy frequently leads her team in dialogues with regulators on behalf of the financial services industry to promote regulatory reform. She also maintains close collaboration with industry organisations, such as the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association, the Alternative Investment Management Association and the Hong Kong Association of Banks.
