Zul Rafique & Partners has welcomed back Tengku Ieras Tengku Alaudin as a partner in its infrastructure and construction team, strengthening the firm’s expertise in Malaysia’s construction and energy sectors.

Managing partner Lukman Sheriff Alias told Asia Business Law Journal that Alaudin’s return was driven by both internal and external factors. “We are seeing rapid changes and increasing complexity in the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors, particularly as Malaysia and the region accelerate efforts toward sustainable development, renewable energy initiatives and major infrastructure projects,” said Alias.

Alaudin initially joined Zul Rafique & Partners in 2002. In 2022, he transitioned as the head of the legal and contract department at Malakoff Corporation, where he led legal operations for power generation projects, M&A, waste management projects and corporate governance matters.

Partners Ainal Marlinda Md Said and Syed Haris have also chosen to rejoin the firm after in-house stints.

Early this year, Zul Rafique & Partners appointed Lukman Sheriff Alias as its new managing partner with a focus on expanding and strengthening the firm’s practice areas to keep pace with clients’ needs.
