Zhong Lun Law Firm has added Leonard Lou as a counsel at its Beijing headquarters, and recruited Wu Kaiqi and Yu Jiakai for its Chengdu and Shanghai offices, respectively, as regional partners. The move aims to strengthen the firm’s expertise in Hong Kong and offshore capital markets, litigation and arbitration.

Lou joins from Sidley Austin, marking Zhong Lun’s latest hire from the firm following the recruitment of Renee Xiong and Alan Wong in October and December 2025, respectively.

Lou has 15 years of experience, having worked as a counsel at Sidley’s Beijing office for the past six years. Previously, he practised at Latham & Watkins and Shearman & Sterling, both in their Beijing offices.

Lou focuses on Hong Kong and offshore capital markets, debt restructuring and distressed asset disposal. He has advised on CITIC Securities’ listing in Hong Kong and Bilibili’s IPO on the Nasdaq. He also has worked on the USD12.3 billion offshore debt restructuring of Kaisa Group, one of the largest of its kind by a Chinese property developer.

Zhong Lun introduced the title of regional partner in February 2025. The role was designed to respond flexibly to a fast-changing market environment and support outstanding lawyers with exceptional expertise and high growth potential in developing through the firm’s platform, Zhong Lun said.

Wu, with 14 years of experience, joins from Chengdu-based GongShengMing Law Firm, where he was a senior associate. His practice focuses on litigation and arbitration, debt restructuring, and distressed asset disposal. Wu has advised clients, including financial institutions, listed companies and large enterprises such as Fusen Noble-House Industrial, Great Wall Asset Management, Chengdu Jiaozi Financial Holding Group and Okay Pharmaceutical.

Yu brings 16 years of experience and previously worked as a partner at Jincheng Tongda & Neal’s Shanghai office for five years. He earlier practised at Grandall Law Firm and Boss & Young Attorneys at Law in Shanghai. Yu specialises in litigation and arbitration, commercial criminal matters and entertainment law, with a focus on defending against occupational and financial crimes, as well as compliance and risk management. His clients include celebrities, film and television companies, multi-channel network agencies and online platforms.
