Malaysian law firm Zaid Ibrahim & Co has appointed Jonathan Lim Hon Kiat as its deputy managing partner, effective 17 March 2026.

He joined the firm in August 2019 and specialises in fintech, venture capital, blockchain technology, payment systems, digital remittance and initial coin offerings. He also advises on M&A, corporate structuring, IPOs, takeovers and private funds.

Managing partner Amin Abdul Majid told Asia Business Law Journal that Lim’s expertise contributed to his appointment as deputy managing partner and formed part of the firm’s “structured homegrown leadership development”.

“Jonathan is chosen for his ability to navigate the intersection of law, technology and business strategy, which is critical to ensure the quality and breadth of services that our clients need today. As the firm embarks on its next phase of growth, Jonathan’s role is central to driving our ‘Firm of the Future’ initiatives,” he said.

Lim is also the secretary of the Fintech Association of Malaysia – a position he has held since April 2019.

He had a prior stint with Zaid Ibrahim & Co between 2007 and 2010, where he served as an associate in the corporate commercial practice group. Following that, he was a partner at RDJLaw from 2015 to 2019.
