Withers has appointed former Sidley Austin partner Raymond Oh as a senior partner based in Hong Kong and Singapore, where he will lead the firm’s corporate practice.

Oh is qualified to practise law in Hong Kong, Singapore, and England and Wales. He has more than 20 years of experience advising on complex cross-border transactions across the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region, with a particular focus on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance.

He has led a series of high-profile transactions, including Modern Land’s USD1.3 billion offshore senior notes restructuring, GOME’s issuance of a USD100 million in convertible bonds to JD.com and the privatisation of Springland International.

Oh joined Sidley Austin in 2012 and was promoted to partner in 2022, also serving as deputy head of the firm’s China corporate and finance practice. Prior to that, he was of counsel at Morrison Foerster, and earlier in his career practised at Drew & Napier in Singapore and Baker McKenzie.

He was named in China Business Law Journal’s A-List in both 2020 and 2021, and was recognised as one of CBLJ’s A-List: Growth Drivers for 2023-24.

Jeremy Wakeham, CEO of Withers’ business division, said in a statement: “Raymond is a well-respected corporate lawyer with a deep understanding of the China and wider Asia market and a strong, relationship-driven practice. His appointment reflects our continued investment in growing our corporate capabilities in Asia.”
