Beijing-headquartered TianTong Law Firm has opened an office in Hangzhou, marking its first new branch since the passing of founding partner Jiang Yong in 2021.
A spokesperson for the firm told China Business Law Journal that the Hangzhou branch was its sixth nationwide adding to established offices in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Zhengzhou and Chongqing. Its Nanjing office, established in 2017, was deregistered in 2024
Sun Yi was appointed executive director of the Hangzhou office. He helped establish the branch and previously served as a founding partner of Hai Run Law Firm’s Hangzhou office.
On TianTong’s WeChat official account, Sun said the Hangzhou office had been part of Jiang’s strategic plan before his death.
He told China Business Law Journal that, aside from fulfilling the late partner’s wish, the firm had chosen Hangzhou because it had long been optimistic about the legal services market in the city, Zhejiang province and the wider Yangtze River Delta. The region ranks among the country’s leaders in innovative and sustainable economic growth.
“The Hangzhou office, while continuing to deepen its focus on major and complex civil and commercial disputes, will also expand steadily into areas that meet local market demand, such as intellectual property and Chinese companies going global,” said Sun.
Located in the Canhigh Centre, the office’s preparatory team comprises several lawyers with more than 10 years of experience, specialising in litigation, Sun said in the WeChat article.
