Latham & Watkins advised Taiwanese battery maker ProLogium on its co-operation agreement with Mercedes-Benz to develop next-generation battery cells for the carmaker’s electric vehicles, including for passenger and utility vehicles.

Latham & Watkins’ team was led by Hong Kong-based partner David Blumental and Frankfurt-based partner Susan Kempe-Mueller, with the support of Hong Kong partner Benjamin Su and Dusseldorf associate Katharina Intfeld.

The first Mercedes-Benz test vehicles equipped with solid-state batteries co-developed with ProLogium are expected to be introduced in the coming years and will be integrated into a range of passenger vehicles in 2025-2030.
