Simmons & Simmons has kickstarted 2025 with the recruitment of Karen Lam as partner and head of Hong Kong securitisation and derivatives, expanding the firm’s financial markets team.
Lam has previously worked at Linklaters for nearly 20 years and became its partner in 2019. She specialises in financing, structured notes, derivatives and financial market infrastructure.
Her notable achievements include acting as the HKEX’s counsel to its trading platforms Bond Connect and Stock Connect, as well as advising the SAR government-owned Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation on the issuance of infrastructure loan-backed securities.
Simmons & Simmons said Lam’s addition underscored the firm’s commitment to elevate its financial markets practice in Asia. Jason Valoti, the firm’s Singapore-based partner said, “Her exceptional knowledge and strong connections with market participants will greatly enhance our ability to provide unparalleled service to clients across the Asia-Pacific and Greater China.”
