Rosli Dahlan Saravana Partnership (RDS) co-founding partner Ong Eu Jin has teamed up with RDS colleagues Lily Lee Zai-Lii and Diane Ngu to establish the Ong Eu Jin Partnership.
Ong told Asia Business Law Journal: “Setting up our own firm allows us to have the freedom to develop and nurture our own corporate culture. We hope to create an environment where team members can express ideas, make suggestions and be innovative. A firm where all team members can give their input and are involved in decision-making.”
The firm has more than 20 members including 10 lawyers, trainees, paralegals and due diligence support staff. The team will focus on capital markets and M&A, emphasising initial public offerings (IPOs).
Ong, who will serve as managing partner of the boutique firm, brings more than 25 years of experience. He founded the Malaysian law firm RDS with four other founding partners in 2020 and previously worked at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill in 2011. He advised on IPOs, bond and sukuk issuances and M&A transactions, involving both local and foreign entities and markets.
“We intend to eventually expand to other corporate or non-dispute practice areas, such as banking and corporate real estate and become a full-fledged corporate firm… [and] to strengthen our debt capital market and M&A capabilities as well as increase our team size and capacity to take on more IPO mandates,” Ong said.
Lee was a partner at RDS and a legal associate at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill.
Ngu, formerly a senior associate at RDS, also worked at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill.
