After 35 years in Hong Kong, Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy has announced the launch of a Hong Kong law practice. The new capability is designed to enhance the firm’s international law practices in Asia, which focus on debt and equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions.

Dieter Yih, who joined Milbank as a partner at the beginning of this year, heads the new Hong Kong law practice. Yih has over two decades of experience leading high profile public M&As and IPOs in Hong Kong. He is also vice-president of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
The head of Milbank’s Asia corporate practice, Anthony Root, cited the firm’s representation of Mongolian Mining in its acquisition of QGX Coal from Kerry Mining as an example of the kind of transaction that requires advice on Hong Kong law. The acquisition involved a number of complex issues under Hong Kong Stock Exchange listing rules.
