Merits & Tree Law Offices has set up a new branch in Guangzhou with four freshly hired partners who specialise in dispute resolution, special assets disposal and bankruptcy restructuring.
The firm has chosen to open its 10th office in Guangzhou because of the appeal of the city’s development into an international tech centre and China’s manufacturing base.
Merits & Tree aims to cater to the demands of clients in Guangdong province via the new office, and its Guangzhou team is set to expand the firm’s businesses in the Greater Bay Area by sharing resources with the Shenzhen and Hong Kong branches.
Sha Jun, a former King & Wood Mallesons partner is leading the new office. Sha is a dispute resolution specialist who represented financial institutions, state-owned enterprises and private companies in disputes involving loan agreements, M&A, and real estate.
The other newly hired partners also previously practised at King & Wood Mallesons: Qin Jing and Liao Shuxin, who specialise in dispute resolution, and Wu Shengmin, who is a debt restructuring expert.
