Mallesons has appointed Mark McNamara as its new chair, effective 30 June 2026, succeeding David Friedlander, whose five-year tenure is ending. Friedlander will transition into the role of M&A partner.
Based at the firm’s Sydney office, McNamara has been a member of Mallesons’ board since 2024 and has led its private capital practice since 2012. He specialises in private equity transactions, such as management buyouts and leveraged buyouts, public takeovers, private M&A and securities offerings.
He will continue to lead the private capital practice alongside his new role as chair.
Mallesons, which recently separated from King & Wood, has five offices in Australia – Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney – as well as one in Singapore.
