Kirkland & Ellis has hired Jenny Li, former head of ethics and compliance for Asia-Pacific and Greater China at Baxter International, as a partner in its government, regulatory and internal investigations practice. She will be based at the firm’s Shanghai office.
Li began her legal practice at Kirkland, where she interned at the Hong Kong office before joining the litigation and investigations practice as a foreign legal consultant in Shanghai. In 2016, she moved to the Shanghai office of Quinn Emanuel, focusing on dispute resolution, cross-border litigation and arbitration, as well as corporate investigations.
She has developed extensive experience in handling government enforcement actions and internal investigations, particularly those involving the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
In 2020, Li transitioned from private practice to an in-house role, joining US medical device company Baxter International as head of its compliance team for Asia-Pacific and China.
Jodi Wu, partner and leader of Kirkland & Ellis’ Asia government, compliance and internal investigations practice, said in a press release: “We are thrilled to welcome Jenny to the team. Having worked both at international law firms and in-house leading compliance for a global corporation, Jenny understands the pressures our clients face. Her ability to navigate complex government investigations and design practical compliance solutions will be a tremendous asset to clients needing strategic counsel in high-stakes matters.”
