Jones Day has strengthened its cross-border disputes offering in Asia with the addition of UK and Germany-qualified lawyer Kay-Jannes Wegner, who has 25 years of experience, as a partner in the firm’s Singapore office.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Wegner was a partner at Mayer Brown and a senior member of Kim & Chang’s international and cross-border litigation practice and head of its European arbitration desk. He has extensive experience in cross-border disputes in sectors including construction, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and pharmaceuticals.
Wegner’s work highlights include representing a European defence company in many arbitrations involving two projects for the supply of specialised assets. He also handled an arbitration for an Asian client against an Asian power plant owner over a turbine blade failure.
Wegner worked as a senior associate at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s Singapore office and Clifford Chance’s London branch before joining Kim & Chang in 2011.
