Clyde & Co has announced the return of Jenny Thornton as managing partner of its Perth office to drive the global law firm’s strategic growth in Australia.
Simon McConnell, chair of the APAC board and partner at Clyde & Co in Hong Kong, said: “We have very concrete plans for growth in the Australian market, and our key sectors play very well into the Australian economy and the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. With her deep experience and connections, Jenny’s appointment is a cornerstone of our growth plans for the Western Australian market, and beyond.”
In 2012, Thornton established Clyde & Co’s office in Perth and served as the managing partner before she left to join Quayside Chambers in 2017. She worked as a partner in the commercial litigation departments of Parker & Parker, Freehills (now Herbert Smith Freehills) and Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens).
Thornton’s return is set to bolster Clyde & Co’s expansion plans within Perth and across the firm’s principal sectors, including insurance, aviation, energy and marine, and projects and construction. Her role will also encompass global disputes, regulatory matters and investigations as well as corporate and advisory practice groups.
The appointment of Thornton follows Clyde & Co’s recent promotion of 27 lawyers this year.
