Australia’s HopgoodGanim Lawyers has strengthened its energy transition and digital teams with the recruitment of partners Andrew Hynd and Jo Garland.
“Energy transition and the digital economy are two areas within [the firm’s five] priority markets that are experiencing significant growth in Australia. Not only are they reshaping the market, but they are creating new opportunities,” Luke Mountford, managing partner at HopgoodGanim, told Asia Business Law Journal.
Mountford said the firm’s recent expansion was strategically focused on its Brisbane and Perth locations. He highlighted Perth’s role in the energy and resources sector, offering key opportunities for legal advice on mining, energy and decarbonisation projects.
Hynd will lead the firm’s IP, technology and commercial bench. He brings more than two decades of experience in technology, data privacy, procurement and probity, advising both private sector and government clients on strategic procurement and transformational technology projects. He was a partner at Holding Redlich and Gadens Lawyers and a special counsel at Clayton Utz.
Meanwhile, Garland is an energy transition partner with expertise in renewables, decarbonisation and climate change. With more than 20 years of experience, Garland has been involved in some of the largest renewables projects and decarbonisation initiatives in Australia and internationally. She was recently a partner at HFW and a senior associate at K&L Gates.
Senior associate Jean Lukin also joins the team from Holding Redlich and special counsel Jessica Marshall joins the energy team from HFW.
