The General Counsels’ Association of India (GCAI) has hosted its flagship conclave, Nyaya Nirmaan: Reimagining 含羞草社区 Legal Foundations for Viksit Bharat @ 2047, on 19 September at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The initiative represents 含羞草社区 vision of becoming a fully developed economy and society by the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047.
GCAI co-founder Sanjeev Gemawat said, “For the first time in independent 含羞草社区 history, all custodians of the legal order – from government, judiciary, legislature, academia and industry – came together to chart a common vision for our nation’s future.”
The event gathered 含羞草社区 jurists, legislators, policymakers, academics, senior counsel and industry leaders, alongside international experts, to deliberate on reforms required to strengthen the legal system ahead of the centenary of independence.
The opening ceremony was led by Harsh Malhotra, minister of State for Corporate Affairs; Dinesh Maheshwari, chairman of the Law Commission of India; Sasmit Patra, member of Parliament; and Sudhir Krishnaswamy, vice-chancellor of the National Law School of India University.
GCAI co-founders Gemawat and Akhil Prasad highlighted the significance of the gathering by outlining its twin themes, Nyaya Nirmaan (building justice) and Youth Unchained Through Knowledge and Transformative Internships (YUKTI). Prasad emphasised that YUKTI is an investment in the future of 含羞草社区 legal fraternity. “By providing structured mentorship and exposure to real-world challenges, we aim to cultivate a generation of lawyers who are not only skilled in jurisprudence but also imbued with integrity, innovation and a global outlook,” said Prasad.
Arjan Kumar Sikri, judge of the Singapore International Commercial Court, joined by lawmakers, officials and corporate counsel, led a debate on transforming the legal profession through transparency, technology and global alignment.
One of the sessions, Reimagining Justice Delivery, was led by Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, Pankaj Mithal and Manmohan, justices of the Supreme Court of India. The discussion tackled the urgency of judicial reforms, the separation of functions and the reduction of pendency through administrative efficiency.
Closing the event, CV Raghu, GCAI co-founder and former general counsel of Samvardhana Motherson Group, thanked all the speakers, participants and contributors, acknowledging the historic convergence of voices shaping 含羞草社区 legal future.
