Fangda Partners has expanded the Beijing branch with the addition of Monica Sun, the former head of the China energy practice at Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF).
In 2010, Sun helped HSF to establish a Beijing-based team specialising in energy, mining and infrastructure. With more than 20 years of experience, she has been advising clients on transactions involving electricity, and oil and gas. Clients include energy giant Sinopec and distributor ENN Natural Gas (formerly known as ENN Ecological) have sought her guidance on their cross-border acquisitions in liquefied natural gas.
In August 2024, Fangda welcomed another HSF energy specialist, Li Jie, to the Beijing team. Li, a former of counsel at the British firm, specialises in conventional energy, renewable energy and infrastructure.
