Hogan Lovells has hired two Hong Kong-based partners, Michael Wong and Maria Sit, from Dechert’s Hong Kong office, which is set to close at the end of the year.

Wong has joined the corporate and finance practice with two associates. He specialises in the private fund business, including alternative investment funds and the formation and structuring of private equity, private credit and hedge funds. He can advise on secondary markets, co-investment arrangements, carried interest schemes and financial services regulatory matters.

Sit, who will join with one associate in late October, focuses on dispute resolution and labour law, particularly in regulatory enforcement within mainland China. Sit previously served as in-house counsel at the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong.

In July, Dechert announced the closure of its Beijing and Hong Kong offices, making it the only US law firm to fully withdraw from the Chinese market in 2024 to date.
