Cooley adds partner in Singapore amid Indian IPO push

International firm Cooley has recruited former Sidley Austin counsel Shashwat Tewary as a partner in Singapore, expanding their Indian and Southeast Asian capital markets expertise.

“Shashwat brings deep experience and extensive connections within the Indian and Southeast Asia capital markets ecosystem, and will be instrumental in strengthening our ability to provide high-quality, impactful advice and solutions to clients in these regions,” said Charlie Kim, partner and co-chair of Cooley’s global capital markets practice group.

Tewary provides advice on the full range of debt and equity capital market transactions, placing particular emphasis on the Indian and Southeast Asian markets. Notably, he advised on the first sustainability-linked bond by an Indonesian issuer, the first Indian real estate investment trust (REIT) institutional placement of units, the first Indian REIT IPO, Indonesia’s first sovereign green sukuk issuance and the first infrastructure investment trust IPO in India.
