Linklaters and A&O Shearman have advised on the issuance of USD2 billion in sovereign bonds by China’s Ministry of Finance, the first of its kind to list in the Middle East.
Linklaters acted as the Ministry of Finance’s international legal adviser, with Asia managing partner William Liu and Hong Kong-based partner Fang Min leading the team. Dubai-based partner Dalia Nammari and Riyadh-based partner Amro Bakhaidar, who led a Middle East team, also assisted.
A&O Shearman advised the underwriters such as CICC, ICBC and HSBC on international law. Hong Kong-based partner Agnes Tsang led the team, with the assistance of Singapore-based partner Alexander Stathopoulos on US law. Dubai-based partner Anzal Mohammed and Saudi-based partner Hosam Ibn Ghaith counselled on Mideast-related matters.
The two tranches of bonds were listed on the Nasdaq Dubai and the HKSE, with one a three-year USD1.25 billion bond with a 4.284% coupon, and the other a five-year USD750 million bond with a 4.34% coupon.
