Former Wilson Sonsini partners Ouyang Dan, Winfield Lau and Ronnie Li, and of counsel Bao Zhenzhen have joined Baker McKenzie FenXun’s Greater China capital markets team.

Their move comes just a month after the US firm confirmed that it had shuttered its Beijing outfit, where Ouyang, Li and Bao were formerly based. Ouyang was based in Hong Kong as well.

Since then, Baker McKenzie has recruited Ouyang and appointed her as the co-head of both the Asia-Pacific capital markets practice and the Greater China capital markets practice. Now based in Beijing and Shanghai, she has represented clients in the technology, healthcare, education and entertainment sectors in IPOs, private equity and M&A transactions.

Li and Bao have also joined FenXun’s Beijing branch. The former has been focusing on capital markets and private equity transactions, including private financing, reverse takeovers and going-private transactions, while Bao, who joined as a senior counsel, has advised clients on corporate financing and securities law.

Lau, who specialises in the corporate and finance practice, has joined the Hong Kong outfit. He has represented investment banks in capital market transactions involving the technology, media and telecommunications, healthcare and consumer sectors.

Other former Beijing-based Wilson Sonsini partners, Richard Wang and head of the China practice Chen Weiheng, have moved to the Shanghai office, with Chen also continuing his work at the Hong Kong branch.
