Leaders of the Asia Pacific Corporate Counsel Alliance (APCCA) extended a strategic partnership with counterparts from the Indonesian Corporate Counsel Association (ICCA) at a dinner meeting on 17 July in Jakarta.

Key discussion topics included the importance for associations to establish capability development training programmes for in-house counsel, the relevance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) in daily tasks, and the significance of technology adoption and tech literacy by corporate legal departments.

Representing the APCCA were director of governance and administration Reza Topobroto, general counsel at Telkomsigma, and director of international and membership relations Anil Changaroth, co-head of ESG practice at RHTLAW Asia.

They were welcomed by ICCA chairman Seradesy Sumardi, chief legal counsel at L’Oréal Indonesia; vice chairman of international co-operation Randi Ikhlas Sardoni, senior vice president ? group general counsel at Hijra Group; treasurer Yohanes April, and ICCA secretary Anggi Wijaya, senior legal counsel at L’Oréal Indonesia.

Since its inception in 2009, the APCCA has contributed to the growth of in-house legal professionals by providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge and fostering skills development.

Topobroto told Asia Business Law Journal the courtesy visit further extended to planning for future co-operative efforts, such as the ICCA expressing its support for the upcoming APCCA Regional Conference, hosted by the Legal Management Council of the Philippines (LMCP) in Manila later this year.

Currently, the APCCA has members from seven associations, and they are the Association of Corporate Lawyers Sri Lanka (ACSL), the Malaysian Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), the Federation of Indian Corporate Lawyers (FICL), the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) and the Thai Corporate Counsel Association (Thai CCA), as well as the LMCP and ICCA.
